Capital loss. Perhaps you can offset it against other gains?
 
When your silver is old enough to buy you a beer things like avg price per oz doesn't really matter.
 
Can't see why anyone would be offended/suspicious of this Q...

So I'll be nice and play along. Was $31ish for a while but now down to $26.70 after offloading some high premium stuff like Engelhard's and buying cheaper silver, some at spot almost at the most recent bottom. Not a bad average methinks and it'll do for now.

if you bought layered silver coins on ebay i guess that could be your average per 1oz of pure silver
