Would love to know what is this contraption I bought last week.
Totally puzzled the guys at the meet yesterday.
Item weights 19 grams
Dimensions approx 4 x 5 cms
Plate inscribed with the initials DFK

I've seen some antique money clips that look similar and since it's personalized with initials, I'm guessing that's what it is. When you know for sure please fill us in

Guys, thanks for your input.
There is a maker's mark AUU which I can't pick up with my iphone
Pretty sure its sterling silver.

Toast / fruit tongs for a traveller.

It works perfectly grasping hold of a slice of bread.
Thanks

Granted it may well work for grasping toast or fruit but I doubt that was its original purpose.

I googled both 'fruit tongs' and 'Toast tongs' and was surprised to see that both things existed, I have lead a life bereft of grasping implements, it is a wonder I have fingers left.

However I couldn't see anything that looked similar to yours and they all have longer arms (I guess that's where the 'traveller' part comes in because they obviously take up less room when packing.)

It looks almost like a clipboard clamp except that the spring pressure of that thing pushes outwards.

So, returning to 1st principals, the question is, What activities require a small aperture to be clamped open?
