What happened to Germany's Gold

Read on the IN that Germany has only received a very small amount of their gold during the past year. At the current rate it will take 20 years instead of 7.

does he really think that US dollars are backed by gold? and why would anyone shave a US quarter, especially if it's not made of silver anymore?
 
It's because the US leases out the gold to prop up reserves in other countries, they couldn't give it back as they don't have it till the leases run up..
