What do you guys think if we all commission the coin from Perth Mint

OK guys, before the pipe dream gets out of control;
Yes the perthmint will custom make coins/rounds the cost is pretty much spot +$15, minimum 1000oz, then you have the dies about $2k, then shipping, to get legal tender status is more again and yes there is regulation for a legal tender coin, also adds months to the process.
Private mints in the USA have about the same charge on dies but can land 1000oz for about $4 over spot, average quality, just bullion.
Private minting in Australia - SBA is your best shot, bit cheaper than the perth mint however not the same quality, but better than others.
We (SGB) are now getting pretty good pricing on dies, our 6th die for design is being done now, having so many done we get a good deal.
There is no easy or cheap way to do it.
I can offer to do your design side for you, you mint on our figure head that way you only need half the die - your design. The offer is there.
Its stressful, expensive, hard work and sleepless nights, however it is rewarding.

It sounds like you have a good amount of experience working with a mint to get a custom one made. I'm very interested in getting one done from Perth, but the +$15 premium is only for coins with images that require a sculptor, correct? I believe a coin with just logo and a few text will be a cheaper.

In the US, NorthWest Territorial Mint makes then for about +$7 premium for proof, and +$2 premium for standard bullion grade. They're one of the more reputable private mints. Minting is top quality, but I don't think as good as Perth's.

Images/text/whatever sculpting is in the cost of the dies, NOT the metal.
So for example a very basic set of dies may cost $1800.00, a very intricate one may cost $2000.00.
No matter what you stamp on the metal the premium remains as does the minimum purchase.

Just a thought we need to have a list. below is an example :

1= Draw a poll to see how many of us will go for it.
2= Vote for trustee team to handle this project
3= Vote for the design that work best for SS members.
4= Consideration of Dies, Packages,Mintages, distribute , copy right, keepsake or for profits, set up the price..............
5=.........
6=.........

1= Work out the minimum initial cost approx $38,000.00 based on spot @ $21.00 AUD.
2 = Vote for someone that will put all their time and effort in for free.
3= Vote for a design you know will sell 1000oz
4= Consideration of costs not associated in the initial $38k, like delivery, distribution, packaging.
