play golf, go for a scenic drive, watch a good movie, post here.

Had you pegged as under 70.

I'm in my 40s so I'm well under 70, or are you referring to my golf score which is regularly under 70 for a round as be expected if someone were "off scratch" like me.

Restacking theirs stash.

Have long and varied conversations with shaggy dogs who have lived interesting lives and short and pointless conversations with a blonde women in miniscule undergarments who has lived an interesting life.

Right now I am playing with infrared illumination and targeting systems and watching peaky blinders....which I highly recommend btw.

Tomorrow I shall work on solving a recent murder.

Each to their own.

Ah flir. Different thing to my boring old IR image intensifier tube toy - it projects a holographic parallax free crosshair in which adjusts windage and elevation automatically based on a ballistic table input, integrated laser rangefinder. Think of it as an eotech with brains. It's most amusing application is allowing you to shoot a crossbow at up to 120 meters in the pitch black and have a fair chance of hitting.

Thermal imaging is very very very interesting to me though. A lot of people are interested in camouflage (yes you can) what is more interesting to me is running deception on it from 200-500 meters. It is very hard to spot one man when there seem to be 500.

Peaky blinders - wonderful. Season two was outstanding.

Didn't know there was a TV show about this, thanks Oldsoul! Finished White Collar and Suits and was looking for something else.

Interesting, got a link to that toy, could be good for an introduction to some of my other toy's.

I am getting to play with some of the new German stuff later this year who is bringing some in. I cannot wait to see how the new tech goes. Never been overly satisfied with either the early gen NV gear or the thermal gear, well not for identification anyway. Want to get my hands on something along the lines of an AN PVS-27

There are snap ons for both android and IPhone and you know what they do actually work out to about 100 meters. Have not played with them in sub ero put would problems do better in a coldier ambient setting.

Traditional long range flir always had to be cooled.

Decent thermal imaging has good detection at ranges like 4-10 (handheld) and 25K (non handheld).

They are pretty cool little gadgets for looking at house insulation etc as opposed to the usually overpriced flir products specifically sold for that task.

There is a company selling both a military and non mil spec thermal imaging site in a red dot/holo format. At the low end these gadgets have the same detection.

I don't want to give hints to naughty folks on how to negotiate thermal on an open forum so I have to toddle off.

On final thought though. Due to silvers thermal property it should be possible to build a metal verifier based on one of these clips ons.

Over to you there.
