Not wishing to piss on your fireworks and all that, but........

A mate of mine many years ago was a competitive cyclist. Spend a proper fortune on bikes and bits. He showed me his latest purchase one night, a Campagnolo gear set. He told me how utterly, utterly brilliant they were, and how light. Then he went and got his kitchen scales to demonstrate, also bringing a similar but cheapskate Simplex set.

You guessed it - the cheap sh*t was lighter. I'd never seen him cry before.

The Campagnolo stuff is "drug $ "
I stick to the Japanese fishing rod stuff
Simplex is still good but the Italian stuff has a large following just like Ferrari's
When you weigh 100kg lighter wheels mean FA
If I dropped 10-15 kg & started competing then maybe it would be worth the $
Japanese fishing gear & Aussie made frames are for me :D
I'll leave the spaghetti & meatball stuff to the office workers & weekend warriors (mamil )

Bought myself a new camera. I have too much camera gear already, but it's too heavy to take everywhere I go and so I often rely on a phone camera, especially if I'm on the motorbike. However, if you're used to using decent gear, no phone camera is ever going to satisfy you unless it's an emergency. Consequently, I decided to buy a 'compact', but one that could take reasonable quality pics and allow a bit of flexibility.

Hence, this just arrived, a Panasonic LX100. Leica optics, small enough to carry almost everywhere, fits easily into my bike jacket, but enough quality and control to keep a half-serious photog happy:

After a 6 month wait for these
New old stock , been sitting in a shop for over 20 years waiting for me :D
This was the ultimate flip , swapped the rims for a book :o
Worth over $1000 , on graffiti in Melbourne , I paid $15 for the book
Rims would sell for $400 a pair
The hubs are going on the Sydney rims and hopefully swap the Omicron's for the wheel build ;)

Bumped into a mate who haven't seen for years, last time was back when when i used to do a bit of toy trading . Got some graded STARWARS figures from him ..
12 back OBI-WAN sealed on the card and cased, and a sealed and cased ROTJ Darth Vader.

I just got a set of etched printing plates for all the original VFL teams -1 .. I've been trying to find out anything I can about them but not having much luck.
has anyone seen anything like these before? I'm thinking they must have been used for printing promotional material, or the covers of programs or something.

IMG_3688.jpg 1930's treasury bond, height of the depression. one of the interest payments claimed and no more. I can't find info on them anywhere online. Anyone have an idea of value/rarity of these? Is in good nick for 87 years old!

Cheers

I got 19 of these old little electric motors from a garage sale, The guy said they were used in a factory that manufactured relays. (whatever that means) *shrug*
They're pretty cool in that they all turn at different speeds, ranging from a few second's per rev, up to 25 hours per rev, I've no idea what I'm going to use them for, but I couldn't say no to something to strange.
Also I got talking to the guys at the garage sale and ended up trading some silver. :) so that was excellent.
Sorry about camera quality, but my phone is a potato.

Could be from gas / electricity meters give different speeds they run at. Manufacturer name also points to this.
