Regarding the issue of new posts, if you click on the "new posts" button, it won't show any threads in which you are the last poster. To see these, first click on "new posts" then click on "recent posts" over on the far right.

I came across this on another forum which recently migrated to this platform.

Don't click on "Mark Forum Read"
I though that it will mark all as read than list all updated thread.

But it has wiped out all the new post, and nothing shows up, I presume it is saying nothing to read as you read it all lol.
 
What's the deal with not being able to send certain people a PM?

Fat Penguin, I've tried sending you a PM but there is no option to start a conversation with you.

This is quite a problem with trying to buy/sell with someone

He must have blocked you :) I have "had a conversation" with him today.

EDIT - he seems to have made a security setting to prevent people contacting him. The conversation I had (and the one below where I let him know) was one he instigated.

For info I dropped him a message to let him know you were looking for him.

That's not going to work... Is there an option to turn off conversations or notifications of them?

I'm sure he hasn't blocked me, but I've noticed there are a few users where "Start a Conversation" doesn't come up when I click their profile pic so I think this must be a user option, when it really shouldn't be
 
Settings/Contact Details

There is an option: Accept Conversations from

You can select "Members Only" or "People You Follow Only"

The latter needs to be removed, and Members Only should be the default

lol i just lost half an hour of my life trying to login. I had the same problem golden eye i had to click on the "keep me logged in" box to log in & post.
Looks good . im sure even a computer spastic like myself will be able to work it out eventually .

And apparently we need permission to view media from certain users too?

Just checked out a sales thread and tried clicking the link to view image but am told I don't have permission to view the media file...

That's likely the permissions that the user set on their upload - send me a link to the trading thread, and I will investigate. A series of FAQ is being developed as we (all) explore the board functionality. Behind the scenes permissions on this board are totally different to administer to the old.

Glad you've removed the ability to post on someone's profile, but I think all permission related things should be turned off for now because users are doing things like blocking their media and who can pm them without even realising

FYI I'm not getting an email when received a PM, even though I have the option ticked to do so
 
I've sent a few pm's or 'conversations' and no one has got back to me yet feeling paranoid that it's not working lol!! Can someone confirm or send me a PM please?
