Hope all in the North/Mid QLD coastal areas are prepared for some wild weather over the next few days, Bruce highway is already cut at a few places and now south of Townsville as well. Some phenomenal rainfall amounts here about with 435mm in less than 30 hrs at one spot just south of Cairns.

Ex cyclone Oswald (ossie :) ) will be making his presence felt all down the East coast over the next few days and may cause havoc with the JIT delivery services of the major grocery retailers along the east coast, Milk, bread and TP are already scarce on the shelves and are unlikely to be replaced in the next week in my part of the world.

Just a heads up for fellow stackers in this part of Aus.
 
Just looking at the Gladstone radar.. It is about to start raining here in Bundaberg . Look like heavy rain for Mackay and Townsville tonight.

Yep!bread and milk will be scare as the rush begins.

What does TP stand for?. Is it Tinned products?

Two of my small trees I've been nurturing for 3 years have fallen over coz its so wet, shoulda cut the bastards down 2 years ago!!. Ha ha, the rain has eased, the wind has dropped, but the ocean still wants to be in places an ocean shouldn't. Nice storm surge. No work for a while today, will reassess later, I don't think many people will be going out today.

Plenty of time to practice French.

Just checked BOM, wind gusts to 107km/h (58kts), we had 350mm of rain yesterday. Rain was blowing straight, that means in line with the ground, from the east earlier, now it's blowing straight from the NW. Yeeeeehaaaaaaa. :D

Cheating by us is legitimate (and should be expected). It's you that isn't allowed to cheat.
 
I must admit I cheated with my sig. It took me something like 4 hours to construct the 2 or 3 posts that I did manage to do, constantly referring to my phrases and grammar books, and also using this: http://french.typeit.org/ so when I decided to change my sig, I went, "B@ise-il"!!

Jeez, send some of that rain down here. After 10 years of drought in these parts, we luckily had two somewhat wet summers (2010-11, 2011-12), including some record breaking rain in March 2012.

It has barely rained since then and it's bone dry. Everything's dead and brown again like it was at the height of the drought. Combined with the record breaking heat this month it's not good. Plenty of trees (especially birches and poplars) looking like they are in full colour already ... but it's not due to autumn, it's due to heat stress.

Would be grateful even for 50 mm or so? Please? :)

Too many Greens in Canberra nowadays, that's what the problem is.

It's a big country, you'd think at least one part of it would be perfect. I guess you can't keep moving around if you have work in Canberra but we picked SE QLD for a reason when we decided to emigrate!

It is raining at the moment, I only lost a few shrubs and most of my bromeliads, the rest now stands a chance!
 
Just ran into a mate who had been one of the last vehicles out of Mackay. He reckons that Brisbane is in for a large amount of rain. Wivenhoe and Somerset being relieved of water to cope with it.
 
In Bundy,, we are just about to cop the heaviest rain in the next few hours..

The big rain band is moving south..It has been raining here now for over 24 hours with some heavy downpours.

Seems to be clearing further North but the floodwater will take time to hit places like Rockhampton.

Thats the way it is.. If you want good soaking rains you have to have TC's and TD's.

Don't worry in Brisbane. I don't think it will be as heavy as the rain 2 years ago.

Big worry however, is that the weather forecasters have predicted a 50% chance of a cyclone developing off the Central Qld coast on either Friday night or Saturday.

Let hope that this scenario doesn't eventuate!

Perfect is in the eye of the beholder of course though. I do like SE Qld, spent quite a bit of time there as I have family in Brissie and in the Sunshine Coast hinterland and Glasshouse Mtns. But there are positives and negatives to every area and climate - Queensland's humidity would get to me if I lived there too long I think. It may be 40 degrees down here, but at least it's dry. Plus I would dearly miss actually having a proper autumn (colours, perfect 20 degree days and crisp evenings) and winter (frosts and fogs and snow on the mountains etc.) I've seen a lot of Australia and love many places for different reasons.

Having said that, I'm moving to the USA in just a couple of months, to an area where there's snow on the ground 5 months of the year and temperatures below -20 or even -30 occur. That'll be interesting :)
