So we now know 2000 then quite rare

Quite a few of those bars has been dumped onto the market within the last couple of months.
The high premiums initially asked has halved since.
If you are paying more than $100 premium above spot; you are paying too much.

Different size E might generate some excitement with American collectors :)
Looks like the bars with dimples has a smaller E

Got me a 1oz Engel earlier this week thanks to an SS member. What a cutie. I'll just add it to the other 6 I'm pretending to own

My three little dimpled Engelhard bars of joy. Thanks to a fellow SSer.

Guys, if you are buying these Engelhard bars please make sure the seller is posting the actual bar for sale
Posting a group pic of Engelhards when selling is unacceptable as these bars do vary greatly in quality and collector appeal.
Depending of which grade you are buying the asking premiums would range from around $100 to $200 above spot.
If it has a very deep dimple the premium you should be offering would be at the lower range. The reverse (bottom) of the bar is another area to check. Some are struck beautifully; others have parts of the stamping missing.

Btw, quick question... or maybe I should do a bit of research first.. what's with the dimples? I'm guessing it's from a particular owner who likes to mark his own properties eh?

They are caused by uneven cooling (I think that is the reason)
Maybe someone here can give a scientific explanation why they form on some bars and not others.

Inspection before purchase is definitely something that you should do with regards to these bars (and any PMs purchase). Of course it isn't always practical, the advice AEL provided above (plus doing your own research) is a good way to avoid disappointment.
