Wechat Payment not being available outside of China is not a big deal for Chinese. It will give a boost to another form of currency for tourist like travellers cheques or cash and will help Visa/Mastercard/Amex get market share if not hindered in retaliation.

South Korea has a similar app KaKaoTalk, that is more popular than facebook/instagram and twitter combined. Doesnt stop South Koreans traveling as tourist. Of course it will be a bugbear for communications (for Chineses re:WeChat) but people will get alternatives or work arounds.

How many American/Australian tourist will cancel a trip to China becuase there is no Facebook/Paypal/Amazon/Twitter without hassles or that most local shops dont accept VISA/Mastercard
