Just for fun I was wondering if I could buy some coins out of the
foreign coin box at a local coin shop, and then actually buy something with them.

They sell the coins by the pound. So I bought one pound of Australian
coins for $2.50. That pound came to $54.50 face value.

I was thinking I might be able to ship the coins to Australia and purchase some sort of sliver coins, maybe a one oz. silver bullion
coin, but maybe that is not enough. Also I am not sure what the shipping cost would be, but this is just a fun experiment for me.

If with shipping, this is not enough, of course I can come up with more money or trade coins if needed. Again this is just for fun
I am not trying to get something for nothing.

Let me know if someone has a extra silver bullion coin they
would be interested in sending off to the U.S.

Haha - imagine if they were round 50s :)

Don't think this is repeatable in Australia - best I've seen is NZ 20c pieces in the 15c box at a dealer :)

Good buying if he was planning to come to Australia.
