If this is not certain proof that we have turned a corner, and the next smack down on everything money is due
then i do not know what is.
This gives us a small glimpse of the magnitude of the "next" great theft from the public for recent history.
It has only been 2 days, THOUSANDS OF DEATHS and massive destruction.
JUST 2 DAYS and the top headline is about their economy.
If you get what i mean then sweet,if you don't get what i mean then no issue.
But, wow!

Money is more important than life?

No where near as bad as the Tsunami in Japan......And i'm sure plenty of charities will raise plenty of money to help.

I call plausible deniability on this undeniable proof
Ya got me:)
What i mean is a basic psychological ploy/technique.
Like calling a girl by her first name when she normally goes by a nickname.
Keeping the word "ECONOMY" constantly and continually in peoples minds.
There are many ways to raise awareness and the use of the term "economy" is a headline does not make me think donations.
As i said , "some will get it in the same way i have, and some will not.
No biggie either way , i just found it interesting and enlightening:)

Well its not unreasonable to ask what to do. I mean, I reckon a lot of Nepalese will already be looking at their ruined homes and thinking "what do I do now?"

Following the Pakistan earthquake a few years back, the govt by-passed the normal response of moving food & building supplies in and instead flew in huge amounts of cash (80,000 rupees per person).

This energised the local population into rebuilding roads comms etc as the cash was a strong motivator to return commerce. They found that the local shop owner could contact his supplier in Karachi & have a shipment of food on its way quicker than the Army could mobilise. Also, meanwhile the shop owner wasn't sitting on his hands, he was repairing the roads to get the trucks through & his shop so folks could hand over their 80,000 r :-)

Even especially in these situations, cash is king!

I'd post a series of photos on here I've just received from a friend with connections to Kathmandu, but unfortunately most of them are very graphic images. Collapsing masonry mangles the human body.

Tourism is the largest industry - and a lot of the attractions just got flattened - not to mention what was considered a relatively benign adventure in trekking to Everest base camp (I personally know a few people who have done it, and there's probably people on this forum who have) just copped this:

...yeah, their economy will struggle.

Excuse the guy's language as a wall of snow hits.

It is a truly horrible situation.
A small positive will be the fact there are many international visitors in the region.
As many countries will want to help their own nationals they will also assist the locals in the process.
We have stupid news reports over here in NZ comparing this disaster to what Christchurch suffered a few years back and this disgusts .
These poor souls in Nepal and the surrounding areas are in the midst of the greatest disaster of their generation.
I would expect the current death toll to only be about 25% of actual deaths.
I did not start this thread with the intent of distracting from this tragedy, i wanted to highlight that even in moments of horrific death and casualty that the MSM quickly gets onto the financial impact.
Financial impact and discussion should not be an issue when there are people still trapped under rubble:(
