Uncirculated(mintmaked) versus proof

Two coins-

An uncirculated coin (mintmarked) that has the same design and year of a coin in circulation. e.g. 2012 $2 Remembrance, Canberra mark

A proof coin that has the same design and year of a coin in circulation. e.g. 2016 $1 50th Anniversary in proof

If you're collecting pristine examples of coins in circulation, which type is preferable to the collector.
 
I'd say proofs as they have lower mintage but it can become a storage problem given all proofs come in box,small or big.
 
For me it's proofs given their quality and numismatic history. Collecting uncirculated versions of circulating coins is crazy popular at the moment and I wonder if that's just temporary caused by all the hype around coloured $2 coins.
 
For me, Proofs then send for grading to avoid storage problems. If graded proof is available, it is good shortcut.

For collectors,even if a coin is graded you still have to have the box coa...so still storage problem...but still proofs every time over high mintage bullion...
 
You can keep the storage boxes separately. Nobody will break in to steal them if they are empty.
 
I think there might be more of a market for the uncirculated version of a coin because they are cheaper than a proof version.
