Hi guys,

Just wondering if any of you know or have had an experience in sending a big amount of silver to NZ?
what would be the best, safest, traceable, and cheapest way possible to do it?

thanks in advance

It didn't go international but Pack and Send couriers were good to me.
Marked as 'mechanical items' though...

Just called them but I did say "silver bars" then guy said... silver bullion? hmm... we have to make a phone call and get back to you as we dont send bullion.

You might want to look at the cost of shipping vs. the cost of buying a plane ticket and actually taking it there yourself.

I heard a story a while back about a guy who flew to Australia from somewhere in Asia to pick up some gold - it was cheaper for him to fly in, collect it and fly home again than having "professional" shipping companies deliver it.

May be safer to divide the bars and send them in smaller lots parcels rather than in one go.

I think you really need to consider that AUSPOST prohibits bullion in any service.
I suspect that NZ Post would apply similar rules.

Therefore, you have two options:

1. A freight company, or
2. A personal courier.

Either way the contents must be declareed and that no doubt will add to the cost of the freight company.

Why don't you give the NZ embassy a call and ask for advice.

That's why it's there!

Good luck!

Please let us know how you get on.

I have done registered post from NZ to Oz and it all arrived ok

Agree with other comments here re flying it over as airfares are so cheap now and far easier than postage or couriers

Fedex charge an arm and leg and also all the clearing fees at the other end such as customs etc as I have received coins direct from Perth Mint to Auckland and you pay upto another NZD$40 for clearance

Happen to work for an airline so could make the trip over and take back for you so long as its under $10k in value and weighs less than 7kg

PM if thats a possible option

Do a gold/silver swap. :)
Based on the current gold/silver ratio, that 20kg silver stack should slim down to less than 12oz of gold.

So how do you fly with 20kg? Surely you cant trust the baggage handlers?

Easy, carry on - you just try to stand straight and not wince or grunt as you lift the bag over your head into the locker :P

Just got this offer in my mailbox this morning.
You should be able to deliver the bars personally for about $400 and get a holiday thrown in.

Would be a problem if they decided to weigh carry-on that flight - have been on a couple of flights before where it seemed like all carry-on was weighed at the gate.

Does that specific 20kg of silver need to be delivered, or just the wealth?
