If you spend some time in jibi.net forum, you know there are a lot of market manipulation. Then that is the quick way smart people make quick money.

Yep.

People like Badon, Mr Ge, Peter Anthony can move markets with their words.

Right after Badon mentioned historical figures on his LBC article, eBay sales went quite well for them. Same with the 1997 Panda.

Yeah well market manipulation, who woulda thought? There isn't a completely 'free' market on the planet, no such thing. Experts writing articles on coin mintages, prices etc have to put down something don't they? I agree with yennus, these guys are helping us all in the long run. We the people follow behind thats the way it is. Low, if you had done the research and had published figures and opinions, people would be saying the same things about you. Who's to say really what's a better buy, Chinese coins have mystery surrounding their mintages and that's the interesting thing about them. Just BE in them, thats's my advice!!

The '97 and '98 coins are both great years to have... what about the '96 coins? There are no mintage numbers in Ge's book for them. So we are talking semantics here really, in 20 years none of this is going to matter.

I would be cautious in relying on Panda mintage figures to make investment choices. If Mr. Ge's figure is correct, than the 1997s must have a higher survival rate than other dates because they are considerably commoner than the years that follow. This is a possibility because of the great amount of hoarding that took place prior to the transfer of Hong Kong to China in mid-1997. The years that followed were bust years when few people were interested in buying Pandas, which contributes to the current scarcity of 1998 and 1999 Pandas.

All I want to say is, if you want to know Mr. Ge's research, then buy the panda book AND the price guide (no not for the pricing)

If you ONLY buy the panda book and draw the conclusion (and believe me, many did that), then you probably has missed out few things that you only can find in the price guide.

It doesn't matter what mintage figure is not included in the panda book (you probably get it in the price guide), it doesn't matter which year is better (scarcer, rarer, what not), it doesn't matter what is going to happen in 20 years time, it doesn't matter who has said what, and who you choose to follow.

This is not about other researcher's research. This is not about investment advice.

This thread is about Mr. Ge's panda book. And I believe many doesn't know there is also a price guide (actually not about pricing) that Mr. Ge's published. Hence I bring it out here. I personally like the little book.

I believe this book is equally important, and more so if you buy the panda book (again this is not only about panda.)

It is excellent if Yennus could source this book along with the panda book for anyone who is looking for one.

Otherwise I am willing to give away (not for sale) few copies. I really like the book I bought a few copies to give away.

I received my copy today, I had ordered it way before this thread, lets say it got caught up. Looking through the book I was amazed at how much variety there is in MCC, Pandas make up such a small percentage. So that MCC market must be huge and growing every year. I would suggest that anyone looking to get into MCC this would be a must as a reference. It is also a handy size in between McDonalds and Panda coin buyers guide. So travelling through Shanghai you can look the goods as well.

If your interest purely lies in Pandas I would suggest getting PCBG first especially seeing it is in English and the pictures are a little more detailed. I also think the listing of varieties is better, at least what I saw after a quick flick through. Mr G's is a worthy addition as another reference and for the few dollars it only has to save you once.
