Tracking the 2012 1oz Silver Dragon Secondary Market

With three (known) sales on the secondary market already for the 2012 1oz silver dragon, i thought it would be interesting to track a few sales as they come up to guage the numismatic premium that these coins are attracting.

Lets start off with:
1. SpannerMonkey's first sale for $71 @ the PM dragon release meet.
2. Elemental's Auction = $62
3. SpannerMonkey's 3 coin sale = $100 each

There are a few coins up on ebay aus for $70 so will be watching how these go...
 
The $71 sale was classic. :) I was watching the Mint staff for a reaction but I guess they were stunned into silence. :p
 
Hahah! Probably thinking... "told you we should have bumped the price up"

Bron was on the stairs and only comment was that it would have to be the very first secondary market sale of the 1oz silver dragon...

...............or alternatively saying........................"damn - we knew we should have investing in our own silver dragons"!!!!!!!
 
Ill give you an idea from german maket.

Dealers have to pay 55 + 7t% tax to get them on secondary market. ( some Dealsers offer 45-50 buying them
from private )

Prices for more than one or two pcs ( special auctions from some Dealers ) are 68 ... 75

Special auctions for one pcs 40-50.
 
I'm confused how SM has sold another 10x1oz @ $100 and another two sellers, in the same subsection, can not get theirs sold for $80 & $70?

Elemental has got 8 for $80 with no bites

He must have a better marketing department :)

I did find it strange when I saw it this morning. Then again, he might have taken an offer at 70 or 80??

Is it true or part of the hype ? No offense spanner but i dont see why others cant sell theirs cheaper it defies logic . I thought the same as you then came to my own conclusion

Depends on who's logged on at certains time along with the fiat they have.

I've read the other sales threads,
People don't like closed tenders ,I just put a firm price ,simple deal & that's it
the more complicated you make the deal ,the harder it is to sell

So true. I refuse to bid in a tender/auction sale. Give me a firm asking price and I am a happy little chappy.
 
I understand the above and will keep it in mind for future sales. I really don't know why you wouldn't put in a bid at $75 on an open sale. You've got nothing to loose and $250 to gain.

One of the things I garnered from Renee Rivkin, was never bid in a tender. Always have the vendor list a price - then go from there.

For me, any 1oz AG dragon for less than $100 is a bargain. Unfortunately, I am not in the market for dragons, and just for the record, I do not own any. It's just not my thing. Good luck with your sale. :)

Personally i think this is the best way to do business, the best deal is the one where everyone is happy with the outcome and if the seller asks a good price then everyone gets what they want, if not it's haggle time or no deal.
 
With 25 coins sold for a total of $2033, that's an average cost per oz of $81.32 so far...

Euro coin sales are a little harder to gauge, dealer buy prices seem to range from around $60-75 and sometimes as high as $100 per oz.

NOTE Ninteno, let me know if I interpreted this incorrectly.
