I really wonder about the mintage on these now. Ill keep grabbing them up when I see them, but I wouldn't be surprised if its closer to 5 mil
 
ha, well you would need them to be worth at least $3.30 to justify keeping them for that long (5% p.a interest)

Hi All,

hope every one is well and ready for a break over Christmas and new year.

Its been a rocky year and lets hope next year would see better returns for everyone in money and in health.

Just to answer Andy28 Question the mint has advised me that there is just a little over 2 million green $2 coins produced.

On another note, i am still trying to find out from the mint about the 2012 $2 coronation mintage correction. The reason i say this is that over the past year the mintage of this $2 coin was around 2 million as well, but i notice in the recent Royal Australian Mint update they change the total mintage to 1 million and also the annual report says 0.95 million.

once i get a answer from the mint i'll post it here to let everyone know.

Things to look out for, As we sold the 2014 $2 mostly in rolls we have no idea what percentage of the coins contains this error. The error is on the Queen Elizabeth II side. In the Minting process there seems to be an error with one of the dies, it seems that one of the presses must of had a oil leak and covered some of the design on the working die. this caused some of the $2 coins on the Queens side to show missing designs. I have already seen a few coins that had various degrees of missing designs.

Another poppy and coronation coin today with my coffee and chocolate donut. Before any dietary criticisms, the donut had a calorie free centre.

As to the costs of stacking $2 coins which may or not increase in value, they form part of my cash stack, so serve a porpoise.

Just a quick comment on the poppy $2 coloured coin 2012, There is a rumor that's been going around that the RSL League cashed some of these coins in to the bank at face value. (the amount of coins cashed in is not known, but i have already got customers walking off the street with these coloured coins they found in circulation lately.)

Not sure how a member of my coin club got hold of so many, maybe he was selling them on behalf of the RSL but he was selling the carded versions at auction, I bid up to $6 and then he offered another 10 at the same price.

I guess they over ordered them, sold as many as they could and didn't fancy having them sitting on the shelf. I am not sure how much the mint charged them but they may have worked out a discount so that they got the coins for face value and probably got a deal on the printing as well.

Better to have an actual $$$ in the bank than a potential $$$$$$$$$ sitting on the shelves which you then have to try and flog.

I got 2 green Centenary $2 in change from a coffee shop in Melbourne this morning.

I also got a 1972 5 cent piece :)

Edit:

I got another of these in a Melbourne bottle shop. Closer inspection showed an issue with the Z in Elizabeth. Is this an oil filled die error? Has anyone else seen this on these coins because all three of mine have it on the Elizabeth but with different letters and to differing degrees.

30 remembrance coins. At the Union Hotel in Newtown for dinner with my son. $2 remembrance coin in the change, spotted one in the tip jar, she had three others in the till. After the exchange she pulled out a sealed $50 change bag with 25 more. Snapped those up too. In one day I have exceeded my coronation collection.

I gave her a tip, "buy on the dips."

Nice Sammy! I had a pretty bumper day in the change department, 4x Remembrance $2, 2x AIATSIS 50c and a 2014 $1 MOR. I also got what I think to be a 1989 proof 50c, but it has been circulating too long to be worth anything really (And I'm not 100% sure of it anyway)
 
James was right (as usual), a Red Poppy today! Great condition but unfortunately a touch of paint off the poppy, same as the other one I have.
 
Hi All,

NEWS just in 2014 $1 MOR coins have hit the market, one of my customers bought in 2 today to show me.

He pick them up at woolies on the great western highway near wentworthville NSW, which means go look at your local woolies as they get change from the same security company

Not too sure if this counts, but I was going to noodle through some coins today, and the lovely bankers handed me a few bags of uncirculated 2014 $1 Mob of Roos coins, all uncirculated. Here is what they're like:

Thinking about selling a couple on eBay or here, if anyone would be interested.
 
I hope these also stick to the previously mentioned mintage of around 1 mil, but if more and more keep popping up....
