The Tollen's test - developed by a German chemist of the same name - was actually used as a diagnostic test for differentiating aldehydes (positive test) from ketones.
Just thought that some might like to see this, since the kickstarter videos made it sound quite mysterious and complicated when, in fact, it has been known and used for probably well over 100 years.
