Today I Bought...

I picked up a great deal on some Mexican Libertad coins. The dealer I got them from told me he bought close to 100 coins in a collection and he offered them to me for $5 over melt. That is more than I would pay but this is a newer dealer I'm working with and I told him I would go look at what he has.

Glad I did. There were many key years in the collection, including multiples of the best ones. I wound up with 6-1998 coins, all look great. Multiples of 1999, 2007, 1988, 1989, etc. No 1991 type 2 coins but that is OK. Not many of the common early ones that I already have too many of thankfully.

I was able to get the dealer down to $3.50 over spot if I bought them all, which I did. I'm thinking of having the 1998 coins graded since they can go for $300 if good grade.

Funny, but as I am not a photographer at all I use just lamps in my apartment :)
And no, I do not use that app.
And think 30 mm cheapest macro lens by Panasonic.

Thought I restart this thread with some impulse buys...

Love 5oz coins, especially libertads! Have no idea on the koala+kookaburra thingy. Completely lost on the Mexican coins (paid it for silver content).

Cheers!

Love those 5 oz Libertads!

Did those coins come with any capsules? Protective airtites? Or just sleeves/pockets?

I can read the cyrillic, the first word is year and the second word is pronounced kanya on the top one. What language are they in? The bottom one looks like it might be Ukranian due to the letter "I" at the end.

Produced by the Polish Mint for Belarus. Lunar series. These are the first two years. Sorry the capsules are a little scratched and I never remove coins.

Later years have much lower numbers and resellers want too much for them. Of course there is also GST to contend with. I would like a set but I can’t see me paying that much to collect it.

Cool. Noticed that smidgeon 2 and 3 are pictured with original ‘mint’ packaging purple paper. Nice.

There are only two more from the first batch. The Melbourne meet will be the only chance to bag Smidgeon #4.
