My advice is to avoid resources (mining and energy) stocks and to avoid loss making companies. Also stay away from floats. Read and learn as much as you can and never buy anything just because someone else tipped it. Always do your own research.
KSN (Lithium/Gold Small Cap), about to start drilling next 2 weeks and recently signed a joint agreement with CXO and LTR for a geophysical survey (their tenements are in same area)
IAM (Fintech/Finance) had a huge rise got a little over heated and had a pull back although IMO anything in 0.06c range is a good buy, anticipating positive quarterly report and new partnership updates in coming weeks
Do you own research including management of any company you are researching, always have a exit and entry plan.

Main thing is to know your exit strategy before you get into something. Its too easy to pick a bad stock and hang onto it. If a stock goes back 5% or 10% are you prepared to sell and look for something better...
Unless your short term trading, you really need to know what the better stocks are (explorer/producer/mine development; total debt; cash on hand etc) and avoid the others. For example, in gold there are only a handful of large ones which have multiple mines to diversify their mine risk. eg. NCM, NST, RRL, EVN, SBM, RSG. Each has +vs and -ves to weigh up.

That silly mindedness won't happen again.

Something I would be interested in are medical cannabis companies. The potential of these are enormous, given in the short space of time how it is now generally accepted as a method or treatment and the granting of these companies in many countries to operate.
There is one on float the the moment but not interested in them due to the board of directors and the type of company it is. It just seems a little of.
I have ben reading and watching a lot and the few the peaked my interested are doing well.
I was going to do a float and an existing ASX company.

I actually found MGC pharm a few hours before your post and have been researching them. They have great potential and rival another I'm currently looking at, which is AusCann recently taken over by TW holdings (TWH) which will renamed Auscann again shortly as it was a very recent takeover.

I always see the comment that you must research the management team of any company. How exactly do you do that?
That is true. You don't want a power position held by and unqualified person for that role oh I don't know lets just give an example of Trump and America. :lol:mmm....shiney! said:

For my example of the last few days researching potential medical cannabis companies I have a good example for you in my view.
Take a recent and current float called esense lab (ESE) and a current MGC pharmaceuticals (MXC).
Bare in mind before reading the below these are going to be producing and extracting from cannabis for an end medical product
Esense lab has:
-CEO Director: Specialising in real estate, transportation, communications, human resources, and information systems, in both the private and government sectors. Holds a B.A in social science.
-Chairman: Bachelor of Science in Pharmacology and Physiology, Bachelor of Dental Surgery as well as a Post Graduate in Corporate Finance.
-Director: Experience in distribution companies across a variety of industries including IT, semiconductors and automation.
-Director: Chief finical officer B.A. in economics and management from the College of Management in Israel, and an M.A. in law from Bar Ilan University
-Director: Currently the Director of global bank transfers with Payoneer , an online payment services company. No qualification stated.
-Director: Another financial officer.
So we have a real estate agent, dentist and accountants going to be in charge of a pharmaceutical company. This comment is a little flippant of me but it puts me right of this company when you compare it to other similar companies like below.
MGC pharmaceuticals has:
- Managing Director: Was the CEO of Israel's second largest licensed Medical Cannabis company
- Executive Director: Has industrial cannabis growing and extraction experience. CEO and director of biofuel companies
- Executive Chairman: Corporate finance executive with over 25 years of experience primarily in the finance, capital markets and resources industries. Holds a Bachelor of Economics from the University of Western Australia and is also a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD).
- Non executive Director: Practicing cardiologist with over 35 years' experience as a clinician. For the past 20 years, he has been focusing on preventative cardiology and is one of Australia's leading preventative health experts.
- Manager of cultivation: Vast experience in growing Medical Cannabis, as well as proficiency in tissue culture methods and mother cultivations, to improve and maintain a high quality of genetics patterns
- Manager of business development: Business development director of leading Medical Cannabis company in Israel
- Strategic advisor: As one of the few medical professionals in the world to have run full scale epilepsy trials with Cannabis.
Between the two, MGC seems to be more business savvy with more sector experience and knowledge.

Mmm.. shiney when researching the management team and board of directors of a company you should look at their track records. For example when McGrath real estate floated the chief operating officer was and still is Geoff Lucas. In 2008 Geoff Lucas was CEO of asx listed Credit Corp Group (CCP) and was forced to resign by the board due to poor performance which caused 2 profit downgrades and plunged the share price. Why would you invest in a company when the chief operating officer is that useless\inept? Unsurprisingly McGrath real estate came out with a profit downgrade less than 12 months after floating and the share price got smacked.

I was reading your thread earlier in the week and it got me interested in MXC. I have been writing advertising content for cannabis products for the last few months, so I have been doing a lot of research in the field and MXC seems to have a good chance of capitalising on the growth in the industry. I used some of the money from writing the advertising for CBD oils to buy some MXC shares this week
One that I am also holding right now that I think has big potential is GPP, which has had a great couple of weeks, but I think there is still plenty of steam left in it. DYOR of course.

That is good. I hope we won't be disappointed.
The fact they have cannabis cosmetics as another avenue for revenue compared to the others is a distinct advantage, by how much will remain to be seen.
Speaking of GPP. I have been watching them too and seen to have good potential as well. They have just released first results on surface sampling they just carried out and seems to be positive. My course of action will be picking up some exploration/mining stocks next whilst also keeping an eye on A3D, but it has been a little choppy lately.
Thought I would give this a bit of a bump.
I am waiting for an entry point to one or two I'm keeping an eye on that I missed previously.
Does anyone have any recommendations/stock to look at?
I researched and T/A'd some I'm interested in and have not got a good entry point or took their run and starting to run out of steam, so kind of stuck at the moment.
