!!! Tiffany FAKE !!!!

Hello!

I've seen it couple a days ago. Was thinking that seller maybe lost the COA, which is pretty lame... :)

But I think that's is maybe not fake. It's not so hard to print/fake COA, especially the ones from CIT which aren't anything "special". :)

The pictures in auction actually won't get "best photographies of the year award". :D :D

Anyway I've sent the pictures to CIT and reported the seller on feeBay. We will see what will come out of this. :)

Was looking at last feedbacks of this (maybe) fake Tiffany seller. He is selling a bunch of Titanic Silver plated coins from Tuvalu.
That is a copy of another coin originally issued by New Zeland Mint, and was from Niue (not Tuvalu) and made of .999 silver, not Silver Plated.
If they have been able to produce this similar coin, copying the coin from Niue, maybe they are trying now with Tiffany coin...

I wonder what New Zealand Mint thinks about this obvious copy of one of their coins.

Tnx for the info alexbecks! :) It's easy to spot that's not Niue, but Tiffany coin looks very similar. It's probably quite hard to copy all the details. First Tiffany coins were probably easier to copy than later on. Not to mention the price they are having on f**kBay. :)

No reply from CIT yet.
 
CIT confirms. This is a fake. Auction will be removed. Unless feeBay wants to get some money from it.:)

Not such a crazy idea. The D&D coins were copied/re-minted for a Russian market not long ago.

But as Stark has confirmed, the Tiffany is a fake. Just shows how careful you need to be on ebay, or any auction site for that matter.
That said, it's good to see that ebay are on top of fakes like this!
 
One more reason to buy only from trusted dealers, in this case dealers that are official distributors of CIT coins.

In this case the fake tiffany seller used his real picture to sell the coin, and it raised our doubts. Other timer sellers of fake coins may use stock pictures or other seller's real pictures, and the fake is discovered only once coin is received (if the buyer has some experience).

I 100% agree alexbecks.

I just saw that coin was sold for initial price to some buyer. Maybe it know that is fake and will try to sell it with (faked) COA.

But it probably don't know. fakeBay didn't removed auction even after report from one member and CIT.

Even more reasons to be very careful!

It could happen as same as did when I was purchasing Shure mics for my friend. The auction was removed after the items were paid. :/ Money was never refunded because seller hijacked some account. Pretty lame.

Yeah, it's better to ask the CIT about the shop from which you want to buy. They will answer you fast and kindly. :)
 
I just saw the posting - I wonder what he/she means by "1 Sample Coin" as stated in their ebay auction ?
