Thoughts on Stacking Fractionals ...

Unless you get them close to spot, it's hard to rationalise the premium attached to fractional and it will be outliers in most collections.

Having said above lots of members have a few token fractionals, due to novelty factor.

Cons expensive premium for the amount of silver
Pro cheaper as a unit compared to more common one ounce
 
I have about a dozen or so Sovereigns just for the hell of it.

May come in handy on the black one day.

I like 1/10 gold for some reason. Probably the entry point to pick up a few bits here and there suits my limited budget too.

Cons - higher premium obviously, but anything spot plus under 15% is reasonable.

Since January 15 to not long ago gold being up circa 37%, even if you were to flip around the high @ spot + 5-7% on here it's a reasonable return.

Can't see any reason why gold won't raise another 50% over the next 5 years, and I can't see any reason for gold not to stay at current prices for another 20 years. Flip a coin.


Pros - Low entry point. Could be important factor if gold were ever to surge sharply.

Sell like hotcakes.

It's gold.
 
I agree only as they say as close to spot. Been travelling a lot but the only gold coins i had seen with same prices regardless of size is the meskuk and zeynit of Turkey. If you buy it locally, price is all the same.
 
I also have a small supply of 1/2 oz silver, and 1/10 oz generic silver.

I expect them to assist in black transactions sometimes.

Well, fractionals need to buy it locally from a good dealer. Otherwise it is too expensive to collect. The premium hurts for stackers and will be a collectors item eventually. 5-8grams range is better fractional for me.
 
I am buying frac pandas, with 1/4oz as favorit
also some 1/20 and 1/10 when i get them to a good price
 
I wouldn't buy fractional silver but gold is a great thing when you consider that an ounce of now $1760 plus the premium.

Yes, fractional sizes (ie, <1oz) make correct payment amounts possible where people don't have or don't want to pay in fiat currency.

One possible advantage of fractional gold is it's very small physically (so discrete and portable). But, remember that 10oz of silver will roughly do instead of 1/10 oz of gold and won't fall through a pocket hole.
 
The best fractional silver is pre decimal coins. Get them at or near spot, they're well recognised and there's very few fakes.
 
66 round Fifties= 1/3 oz silver...Good fraction = same as pre 46 florin. You will always get over spot with 66 rounds.

Not sure, as we all get older and more and more immigrants arrive, few will have any idea of a 1946 shilling!

Certainly not silver content.

Not fractional Silver except pre/post decimal silver A+

But fractional Gold - a big tick from me :P and as above affordable to buy and very easy to move when and if needed AAA+

1/5oz is probably the most difficult coin size to move. Usually not part of a series of larger coins and a non standard amount. Stick to 1/10th and 1/4oz and 1/20th oz Pandas are a potential for the future as they are presently overlooked.
