I think they get the bam hammer right here, it's used sparingly,

I copped a lot of sh*t from people in that thread and I did not have a meltdown or resort to name calling anyone.

I think a bit of messing up of his hair followed by retreat and indulgence would have gone along way with 007. Ego adjusts to reality (usually)
Maybe the dignified and retrained way I conducted myself with Silver Sanchez on the Stocks and Derivatives could be used as a model for behaviour by members in future? I belatedly came to realize that I had been taking liberties with a sage and I appropriately apologized

It was me. I called W7silver a wanker. Any newbie who has the audacity to call a 10,000 odd membership, sharks, deserves condemnation. The 007 moniker, with the two naughties before 7 connotation, opened up the wanker antonym. Simples.

I agree.

But 007silver calling us all sharks is not on a personal level. I do not think anyone here really took that personally, whereas when someone directly calls another person a bad name, then that is on a personal level and is something else. Also, everyone here knows they are not sharks. That should be water off a ducks back.

If I was new on a forum and never called anyone a bad name and was only trying to contribute and fit in but then got called a 'wanker' I might take a little offense but if half a dozen people instantly thumbs up the comment where I was called a 'wanker' then I would probably feel a bit offended (whether or not that was why they specifically thumbs up the comment). I don't think that then calling everyone a jerk is in anyway justified and especially not melting down in that thread either but it's just a shame that this happened to a new member, if you read through all his previous post he really was another stacker and excited to be a stacker. When probably way less than 1% of the population really stacks it's just a shame we still have to turn on each other, I would rather see people calling the non-stackers the jerks :)
