Lay buying this as my everyday watch, with my goal to buy an 18k yellow gold watch before I am 60. Probably a roller (hides). Click on the images below to zoom in.

This is a 14k, 1950's Omega, about $650 AUD delivered from The good 'Ole. The story behind it is worth the price by itself I reckon :lol: (I enjoy a good story and I will actually retell it to everyone until it no longer is fiction).

Cline Edie was a happy man as his lovely bride to be Miss Sandy Kack had just presented an 14k Gold OMEGA wristwatch to him and that was followed with a very long and erotic kiss. Now as he drove his 1950 Nash down the turnpike he just couldn't be happier. He noticed a large city bus suddenly lose control and rollover spilling numerous senior citizens out through windows and door. Braking hard and trying to dodge the bodies on the turpike he realized he had not followed the advice of his trusty auto brake specialist(A Mr Clash) and now his brakes were failing rapidly. His last words were"Sandy I love you" as his Nash slammed into the tour bus.The State Trooper going through the remains of the destroyed Nash discovered in the glove box Cline's OMEGA watch sparkling in it's box with nary a mark on it. A somber Miss Klack received the OMEGA watch at the State Trooper Barracks and returned home shaken. About a year later she married and her new husband, Shamp, wore the watch for the remaining years of his life. Recently she entered a small watch show that was in town and sold the watch to a very jolly fellow who owned Girards Watches.

And here is a 1950 Nash Ambassador, the vehicle most likely being driven by the unfortunate Cline Edie prior to his misadventure. Of course, Mr Edie's automobile was damaged beyond repair:

So as can be seen, not only does this watch have an intriguing and well connected past - it also has, what shall we say, a certain panache. Quite well suited to my wrist I hear you say. :D

I used my Submariner as a working watch. It has been smashed into rocks under water, banged up climbing a microwave repeater tower when I used to work for Telecom, been around the globe dozens of times while I have been working on projects, I doubt many other watches would have stood up to what this watch has been through and it never missed a beat.

46 had to get his date serviced too after his 87 foot jump into water.
 
I did a bungie jump in New Zealand a long tome ago off a bridge and as the cord reached maximum extension and my arms were in the river below up to my elbows before the cord snapped back the bracelet of the Submariner opened and it was only because my fingers were splayed so wide that the watch just hung on my hand. As I launched back upwards I managed to close my hand around the bracelet and hang onto it.
 
I'll stick with my Casio. Cost $30 and been going strong the past 4 years.

Problem with Rolex is there's too many fakes. Even though a genuine one would be a good way to transport wealth internationally.

Haha, no I knew what I was up for before I took it in. That's a pretty standard service charge for a Rolex.

Here's a little tip...if you ever want to buy a brand new watch costing many $$$, wait until you are going overseas and claim the GST back on the Tourist Refund Scheme, I've done that a few times with various goods and saved myself a packet. No, you don't have to be a tourist, it's open to everyone.

For the life of me I can't figure out why the socialists haven't closed this little loophole for Aussies yet.

How long has it been since the last service? Interested in any feedback you have regarding the service you get from Rolex service centre in Sydney.
