Whose bust is that thucy?

thats Aleksandar I the King of Serbs, Croats & Slovenes

same specs as the Austrian and the Dutch Ducats but lower mintages :)

Looks like the coin even replicates his unfortunate demise.

Where does Bosnia fit into the picture at the time? Serbs, Croats or Slovenes?

Yugoslavia was made up of

Serbia
Croatia
Bosnia & Herzegowina
Macedonia
Monte Negro
Slovenia
Kosovo :)

Good question where Bosnia fit in at the time, and why the King wasnt the King of the other Peoples as well.
Short answer - I dont know.
We were kind of torn between the Serbs and the Croats, after the Ottoman Turks withdrew from the region and
have shared a similar fate to the Poles. Our neighbours on the east and west were militarily stronger than us and
used that against us. Hopefully the war of the 90s is our last war.

nowadays we have some sort of pseudoindependance and no one knows how long that will last.

we were one of the losers in the war so loosers always get left out of power hence serbs croats and slovenes

Picked this little fella up on the weekend. Can't find out any info about it. Googling "perth mint gold piece" turns up nothing even similar. Judging by all the other gear that came with it it's probably from the 70's.

Nice little coin too!

Edit: Of course it's not a coin at all, but a medal type thing.

Hi Lucy.

Well, in this instance I picked up a wooden box full of gold coins plus a heap of sterling silver coins and proof sets from an acquaintance who was in need of cash. An unusual transaction for me, but beneficial to us both. :) Still sorting through it all, but as we know that's the fun bit!

Usually if I was to "pick something up on the weekend" it would be most likely a stray coin from a weekend market or antique store I happened to be at. Very rarely a score from a garage sale. Maybe a visit to a coin shop in town if I was there with a few lazy bucks in my pocket.

I don't generally go out hunting for PMs on weekends though...

Hi Silvester,Thanks very much for the info, much appreciated.I heard sometimes we'll get bargains at Coin fair or Auctions too.Regards,Lucy

I can't be sure that gold isn't actually magnetic as I keep getting attracted to more and more.......

Here's a few little pieces of what I've been able to gather since last time...

Lucy, I would also recommend a seller at West End Markets, she has some interesting sovereign and half sov rings... :)

Thanks Thucy, yes I'm busier than ever lately so not a lot of time. I'm hardly stacking at all compared to what I could be. Shares have really got me in big time even though it doesn't appear like a smart investment right now. I'm concentrating on accumulating energy stocks while they are cheap and think that's where I'll finally make enough to buy myself a Ferarri Spyder, Bentley Mulsanne or Bugatti Veyron even ;)

I've purchased virtually no silver this year compared to gold.

Mmm 1/10oz gold - future monthly grocery tokens :)

Got rid of all of my 1/20oz - too bloody small, can barely read the weight on them without an eyeloupe.

I like that thinking gp, the whole 1 month food token thing. Nice analogy.
