I think its my duty to "miss scan" a few items. After all if the supermarket estimates $20k is stock losses, I believe that corporations should be helped in reaching their targets :)

After reading ad nauseum your whinging, whining, bitter and twisted, self entitled posts it was no surprise to see you admit on this forum that you are just another thieving piece of scum..........who believes it's your self deluded and self entitled DUTY to steal from us all.

Why work hard and pay your way through life Credit Crunch, when you can instead just bitch and whinge and steal from all of us that do.

Mate chill.... I am pretty sure he was being sarcastic ;)

Use a human being or face being replaced yourself, one day - by a computer. Thanks to Google Artificial Intelligence and Ray Kurzweil.

All we can do is the result of individual human action. No way in hell will I ever use those things ! :o

Whenever they try and make me go through the 'self checkout', I like to scan 2 or 3 items then call the girl over to assist me. I praise her, tell her she doing a great job, then stand there as she does the rest of my trolley full. Meanwhile I like to lecture her as to the evils of self checkouts, and that very soon they won't need her. :)

How does that make her feel better?
And what can she do about it that won't cost her her job?

Its not meant to make her feel better, its meant to make her think and plan for when the inevitable comes.
I've been going to that woolies for over 7 years now, theres hardly ever anyone in there. They started with one set of four 'self checkouts' about 4 years ago, and about 10 normal checkouts. The number of selfies hasn't increased.
Once/if they fully convert over to selfies, and they bring robots in to stack the shelves at night...what will be left? No jobs for anyone.
