Starting to catch the bullion bug.

I am frustrated by heavy premiums on Pamp bars or I'd have a few. Instead ive directed my premium on picking up 3 of these beauties. Will be hunting for close to spot bars at a couple coin shows coming up as well.

I didn't know Daniel Carr did poured bars.

Very nice!

Yes I was surprised to see them on a recent visit to his site. I had only bought his Peace$ fantasy pieces in the past being a Peace$ collector numismatically. These just jumped right at me. He had a few last month without the fancy back and about 35 of these and 42 in the 1 ounce variety. Id like to get a few more of these but im not sure they will last so I am considering whether to pay up for some PAMPs or just stack up on cheap show bars 1$ over spot.

I forgot I also picked this one up with a little premium. Not quite as sexy, especially on an AUS heavy board but I liked the historic flag representations.

If I'm reading it right, it says $200 dollars on the 5oz bar.

That seems weird. Does anybody know the backstory on that?

DCarr works with a lot of alternate currency/concept designs. He does a lot of Amero coins et cetera. He is also the designer of a couple of the actual statehood quarters put out by the mint. So to answer the question as best I can without complete certainty, it just a concept/gimmick of sorts under the idea that precious metals are the real money. His 1 ounce bars are stambed 40 Dollars.

Got the bars today in hand and man this is just gonna fuel the bug. I think 5 ounce bars are the sweet spot of coolness but Id like a 10 ouncer now :D

I dont collect by date per se. I do want one from each date and mint mark but I need them to have toning such as this:

Wow. Your rough bars are gorgeous.

I've a few myself in my stack - I'd be keen on some of those examples from the US if you come across any, or are looking to sell them.

Obviously, I hunt my 'ugly' bars as close to spot as possible, but there has been a trend here for buying and selling old school poured bars for decent premiums...

Food for thought... :D

These had a hefty premium. I wish they were near spot id have 10 of them :D

Yeah, I jumped on the Academy poured bars when they were open for bulk order on Bullion Bourse. Beautiful bars with around the same premium as a perth mint 10oz.

I remember selling my 6oz pyramid bar about 12 months ago - it was by far the old favourite in my stack...

im not big on buying bars with premiums because thats the whole point of buying bars however at the ANA i picked up a Dragon Pamp and i am glad i did. its the nicest 1 oz Bar you can buy and comes protected and carded. The card is rigid plastic btw and makes for a great piece to hold.

This will be the only pamp i buy until im filthy rich but for now it will appease my stacking craving for a day or two.
