So I have the silver bug bad and go looking around locally for silver coins, not many places at all where I live but I did come across one place referenced on the net, a Pawn broker and scrap gold buyer, MMMM I think to myself, probably gonna get raped if I go in there , not knowing anything except for the prices payed on Ebay .
But I go in anyway and ask the guy if he has any pure silver coins for sale,"Yeah I have some" he say's , and show's me a 2003 Kangaroo for $35 dollars mmm I think OK cheaper than ebay at least and ask if he has Eftpos, Nope cash only mate he reply's, OK Ill just go get some cash and walk out the door.
A couple of hr's later after following the Missus around shoping I get back there with my $35.00 in hand and on the way in notice a display case with some other stuff in , a few boxed coins amongst them, The Redback 2006 $1.00 and the Shark plus a few more.
The guy hands over the Roo and I hand over the $35.00, and I ask him whats the go with these ones over here, "Oh yeah they are coins as well", "Oh can I have a look at the spider one" I ask thinking to myself it will be the only time I ever get to hold one . "Yeah sure" he says, "It's a nice looking Coin".
So I wander over with him and he pulls it out " It's not an Aussie coin tho" he says "it's from some Island place Tooravaloo or something like that" "mm nice" I say "How much are you asking for that " ? "Oooor" he says looking at it and then at me "I reckon you could have that for $50.00" he say's "whadaya reckon" ?
Well time sort of slowed down a bit, I checked it over, read the COA, looked at the box, "MMM Yeah OK m8 leave him out , Ill just go see if SWMBO will let me spend that much on a coin".
Out I go to the car to confront the Missus, "Give me fifty bucks NOW" I tell her, "OH what the F/ING hell are you buying now she moaned", "Dont worry about it just give me the money" Blah blah back and forth............The rest is a bit of a blur but I got the cash and wandered back in trying to keep calm.
The guy then spent five minutes explaining to me that he needed to work out the GST on it as it wasn't like the first coin yadda yadda yadda, Turned out it could of only cost $45 something dollars if it wasn't for the bloody government. Meantime I'm screaming inside at him JUST GIVE ME THE RECEIPT AND LET ME OUT OF HERE.
So what do you all think ? A good buy ?
Next question is do I sell it and use the $ to buy more silver or hang on to it ? What do you Knowledgeable folks here think I should do....I'm still pinching myself and waiting to wake up while planning a trip back in a couple of days with a few hundred to see if he has anymore bargain buys.
