Some Wow's of the day.

"Wow!" is the right word. Spectacular comes to mind as well.

You really got lucky with the 2 1985 Great Wall ANA medals grading at 69....those are worth a mint!

Hello masterID. Actually, I've had these items sitting around for awhile, and always wanted to grade them. I don't own a loupe. I don't have an eye for that stuff. On the flip side, I had a PF65 and 66 for my 5 oz Honk Kong Panda Medal. And the Fiji Bald eagle, which is antique, and I thought was beautiful came in at a whopping 64! So I did get some bad grades. I also sent in the Argali Mongolian Silver, simply because I wanted it authenticated, and it scored a decent PF68.

Keep in mind, b, that grades are relative..

Getting back a 66, for example, when there's only 1 out there at 68, with a few at 67 and the bulk at 66 & below, isn't all that shabby.

I collect some older slabbed pieces which typically top out at a rare 65 -- and those go for a song. Beyond my budget.

I don't kid when I say it's an exciting day when I can find a nice 63 for a fair price..

I had also thought of sending in some stuffs for grading, but not sure to cherry-pick or simply send all in.
Guess stick to status quo.

If grading were free or you are very wealthy then simply send in all. Otherwise, your best bet is to send in the one's that look best under a loupe....I use a 10X magnification loupe these days. Under 10X magnification, virtually all coins I have ever looked at (even coins fresh from the mint) have some minor (not visible with the naked eye) imperfections. I read once (I think in a PCGS newsletter) that graders generally use a 5X loupe for grading.

Of course, just about all circulated and even some uncirculated coins have visible (no loupe required to spot it) defects like scratches or dings. Those will undoubtedly get a lower grade.

I'd say it also boils down to 2 questions to ask oneself..

What exactly are you sending in?

And why do you want them, specifically, graded & slabbed?
