Some nice silver I found in South Korea

I've been living in South Korea so I did some research on buying PMs locally here. I found a dealer in Seoul. Drooling when I saw their 1kg minted bar. Around AUD$900. Hefty price but so pretty.

Comes with a nice round in a set too.

I know. I can't say I've ever seen a 1kg bar like that before. Usually they are blobs. The closest thing I've seen would be a PAMP 500g minted bar.

Planning a trip to Seoul in December - can't wait to check these out.

Yes it's nice but I've never understood the point ! Why pay a premium for a pretty picture at the end of the day it's a Kg of silver regardless of the shape.

When I'm buying I don't care if it looks like Mickey mouses head as long as it's 1kg .999 and spot price

If someone offered me silver with a Mikey mouse head I would step aside and buy somewhere a libertad or so instead lol.

On premiums: I don't mind paying a bit more for a government-minted legal tender coin.

But I wouldn't pay a premium on a privately minted bar if I could help it; I'm with The Optimist here - if it's not a coin, I'd rather pay spot for a blob than a premium on a pretty rectangle.

I'm stacking against government, so screw what they declare as legal tender, which is actually even not true in alot places in the world, where they only put a legal tender currency on it as to be able to sell at a reduced tax rate, with the face value being a nothingsayer, the coin (or 'coinbar/minted bar' is then actually not legal tender.
A coin design also has a value, and the milkspot, while not actually design is also only a 'pretty' level - issue, yet quite some people run away from them / sell them first, to get rid of them, me included.
And if I especially like a design, I wouldnt mind paying a hefty premium, although, I wouldn't buy them in huge quantities, because if I have X coins with a nice design, the X+1 th I begin to appreciate less, much the same reason as people that are hungry appreciate a first bread more than a second. :D

This is something I would display as art and as a souvenir. The beaten up kg ABC bar never sees the light of day. If I need to sell it I know that unlike most souvenirs I'll at least get spot price and perhaps someone else will be happy to pay the premium too.
