Just 215 pieces. Not cheap, but really nice, especially the new design in the centre.

That is straight up BAD ASS , would love to own it...but not at that price.

I would bite in the average proof like Kilo Libertad price range, high...but still willing to pay.

I love it as well, but well over two-grand is too much for me also. Understandable given the work, design and tiny mintage, but still a huge wedge of wonga.

The real problem with this coin is that this is no longer a premium series. Back when these weren't being sold as cheap bullion (the 1oz version), the Somalia Elephant series appreciated in value quite nicely. Now with current year Elephants being sold for Spot + $1.90 on occasion, topped with a milk spotting issue just as bad as the Maple, this is no longer a series worth collecting IMO - at least not in anticipation of any numismatic value.

One gets what he paid for. This series from 2011 have become a joke. Foggy, Milky spots are wide spread. At least now more people sick of the problems, and stop buying them, so the premium has gone much lower. Back in 2011 - 2013, this series still commanded high premium. I got a roll of 2011, most of them foggy, and some have milky spots. Badly made!

Interesting. As a friend newish stacker I was thinking about these and the other African coins. Now I'm not so sure!

I bought my last elephant in 2011. Milk spotted. Put me off buying any further from this mint. Still, maybe their proof version is different, like the Royal Canadian Mint's.

Even so, I would never buy this coin. What am I going to do, sit around putting together the worlds easiest jigsaw? With white cotton gloves on? Mix them up a bit?

Nice coin....will add this one to the wish list too.
Now just need to win x-lotto.

In relation to some of the above comments regarding milk spots....it would appear that this issue is across the board
including our very own Perth Mint.

As frustrating as it is...it looks like milk spots are here to stay.

Before long I'm sure coins with milk spots will start carrying a premium.....the more spots the better.

Similar to coins that have rainbow effect toning on them, bars with swirls and coins/bars with low COA numbers.

Watch this space ;)
