Gold and silver 1oz coins from the Australian Lunar 2013 Year of the Snake Coin Series are officially sold out at The Perth Mint.

The sell out of the full mintages of 300,000 pure silver 1oz coins and 30,000 pure gold 1oz coins was achieved in just two months, ranking this release as one of the fastest selling behind the phenomenally successful Year of Dragon coins in 2012.

Now Privy Snakes?

2013 LUNAR SNAKE - PRIVY MARK ISSUE (Item 54)

The design for this 2013 Australian Lunar Year of the Snake coin consists of a representation of a snake entwined on a branch, surrounded by a pattern of lines. The coin includes the inscriptions 'Year of the Snake' along with the Pinyin pictograph pronounced 'sh' and meaning 'snake'.

Zero purchased by me. Privy on the other hand, should they be low premium bullion might be worth a go when they are released around March I assume.

Where speculators fear to tread, will the trend therefore become counter intuitive.

If the 1 oz snake remain with steady hands in the first instance, making secondary market supply limited relative to some prior years, will their premium also reflect this, even if unloved in the first instance?

On this basis, is it still with a flutter?

Sold out at the mint, how many are still available at the dealers though?

A lot have been reimported, plus the remnants at the mint have just been reallocated, so quite a few. Heaps more silver than gold though.
