Hey all I am mostly a Lunar Collector I also love the RSC coins (so shiny and pure) have dabbled in panda's with little success (too much to learn and too expensive for me to go back and collect) and a few other perth mint series I like the endangered and extinct and the new opal koala is very nice looking coin.

I suppose my question is what does eveyone else collect I am expecting mostly people on here to be into Lunars, Sovereigns & Pandas but what else are you into?

If I was to start collecting something else what is the most liquied type of coin
- Koala's? (I like the gilded one's they look really nice)
- Britannia's?
- Kooks? (these have appeal as they are Limited mintage)
- Canadian Lunars or Wildlife?

I used to love (and to a degree still do):
- Koalas
- Perth Mint Lunars
- RAM Kangaroos
- Britannias

Now I have diversified (still have all of the above coins) to collecting:
- Pandas
- Guan Yin (Goddess of Mercy)
- Chinese Historical Figures
- God of War and Wealth (Zhao Gongming)
- Chinese Lunars (Plum blossom)
- Unicorns
- Goldfish
- Ancient world coins (Circulated)
- Other country numismatic coins (non-Chinese)
- Exotic medals (non-Chinese)
 
I've completed the britannias, currently working on kookas, koalas, and S1 lunar.. expensive hobby to pick up :P

No where near FB's level :)
 
Pre 1900 Numismatics... in any grade.. mainly silver.. close to spot or higher grade if im lucky or feeling rich.

I love the Chinese Plum Lunars but much like pandas they are far beyond my price range I think I might start working on getting some gilded Koalas and canadian wildlife coins I really Like the look of them and they seem very popular.
 
I started collecting silver lunars, then stopped.
Then moved onto Britannias, then stopped.
Then moved onto Holey Dollar and Dumps, then stopped.
Then moved onto Kangaroos, then stopped.
Then moved onto florins, then stopped.
Then moved onto crowns, then stopped.
Then moved onto world 1/10 gold coins, then stopped.
Then moved onto European gold coins, then stopped.

Now i just accept that i'm not a collector and just store metal.

#2. anything (generally non coloured specimen) PERTH MINT eg. kooks, lunars etc.
#3. Masterpieces in Silver. I live the silver $1 & $2 coins and sets of aussie coins.

Anything 999 really.
 
Only started collecting 4 months ago, but collecting:-

Lunar S1 - Silver 1oz - in progress
Lunar S2 - Silver 1oz - Completed set
Lunar S1 - Gold - 1/20oz - in progress
Lunar S2 - Gold - 1/20oz - in progress

Kookaburra Silver 1oz, proofs & some privys
Koalas - 1oz

Panda - Silver 1oz OMP
Panda - MS 69 - Silver 1oz - only have the 2007,2008 & 2009 so far.
Panda - Gold - Full sets 1.9 oz - Already have the full 2011 set.

Tennis coins - 1oz Silver proofs - as I'm a mad tennis freak.

Also any low mintage coins I feel are worth collecting - anything <5000 mintage

& finally 1oz Gold bars & 10oz Silver bars.

So far I'm pretty happy with my collection, I feel as though I'm a collector/investor, but refuse to pay stupid prices, so will do without certain coins and not chase them if too expensive.

(Damn you BB for starting me on this expensive hobby) :)

I saw an online guy selling holey dollar and dump coins some rum rebellion and the 06 world cup one I think around $110 - $150 from memory not sure if its a good price could probably dig it up for ya
 
I stack bullion, but look for anything that interests me or has a numismatic potential.

So far generally:

Gold World Coins
Panda's
NORFED Liberty Dollars
A few Lunars

I pay next to spot for just about everything, but still make my stacking a lot more enjoyable with the above!
 
Lunar Dragons from Perth mint, wouldn't mind one of each but the nine coloured ones, the rectangle ones and the overseas releases do not excite me enough to go out looking for them, the prices are ok but I would not be upset if I didn't add them to the collection.

I have some of the Roos but don't think the latest ones are worth the money so that collection died out.

Norfed/Liberty Dollars were great to collect but they kept discovering "errors" which they were selling, before they shut down I got the impression they were making more money by selling to collectors than they were issuing into circulation. I like them but now so do a lot of people and as the chances of getting a complete set are zero without spending some serious money I am just going to hold on to what I have.

I was working on a representative type set of 2011 world coins, Pandas, Takus, Libertads, ASEs etc but I gave most away as presents in 2011!

I am trying not to buy too much into the collecting side of the coins as I collect other things which are more interesting, better priced and have greater variety and don't tarnish.

Wow thats a lot of different things to collect.

Just out of interest what is fair price to pay for 2011 high releif kangaroo coins?

but if you live in Aus. i would go with the perth mint like Baron says. (shipping costs)

the most I have paid for a coin is a tie between the 2007 kiwi proof, 2010 HR roo and the 2009 roo at Sunset F12. each $150

I now collecting Chinese Lunar Scallop and Fan Series .. Hoping they will turn up to be a good investment .
