You guys are cracking me up about Geylang. I lived long enough in Singapore to know not to wander along to Geylang.

Love Durians. My grand parents had a fruit plantation in Malaysia where we use to push them off the trees with a long pole. You get to frozen tasteless ones in Australia.

now is durian season, so bring some salt with you...after eating you need to drink salted water.

buy the sultan quality ones, you will enjoy opening the the durians yourself

You can get the Eno fruit salt from the pharmacy in SG too. Will help alot when taking all the spicy and heaty local food :D

Geylang does have nice food as well, especially the frog porridge. There is a good one at Geylang Lorong 9 named Lion City Frog Porridge (my personal fav). And directly opposite the stall along Lorong 9 is a stall that is famous for its beef hor fun.

Do have a look at this blog by a local prominent food blogger who is a doctor by profession, it may give you more ideas on what type of nice food here and where to find them:

All these talk about food is making me hungry. Think I'm gonna find me some food.

Ooooh yeah,
i hopped my way around singapore on frog porridge, chilli mudcrab and tiger beer.
Never looked at a frog the same way after visiting singapore.

hayah, these guys tried to jump ship,

but the ship they chose was the one that got stuck on top of three 52 storey buildings

the water was far from below :p
