Silver Storage

Hi
just a quick question about the types of storage people have for their silver ie Brand and make? I am looking at buying something but don't really want a safe any ideas?
 
I understand that about theft but my stack is not very big at all and was just wondering if there are any coin boxes or the like for small bars
 
If you keep a safe at home (Bad idea, as mentioned) build a false back to a cupboard and hide the safe behind that. A safe that can be found my an intruder is an invitation to be robbed. All home safes are easy to get into. (I spent a year studying as a locksmith) There is not safe home safe. If it can be found it can be opened. Trust me.

There is no point say - Oh, I only have a few coins etc - if you value them so much you want to put them in a safe then make sure the safe can not be found by an intruder. Under the floor is a good idea. In a loft or roof space is a good idea. In the bottom of your wardrobe is a terrible idea. Any crook searching your house will look in there and find it. I would say that putting it under your mattress is safer then a safe in plain view in the bottom of a cupboard! And I am 100% serious about that!

But hay - it's your stuff, not mine. Just giving you the best advice I can! :)
 
I get the impression most people here don't have anything else of value except their bullion stack.
don't you's have electronics, artwork, furniture and anything else of value?

I just looked in my fridge and freezer, there's probably $2500 of meat and food there.
the pantry too, socks n jocks can add up, clothes can run into thousands, shoes, the lawnmower.
your cars, boats ect, so why is it that only bullion needs to go to a safe deposit box?
why don't you's all take your eggs, fruit n veg' in aswell, you never know.

Walk out of my house with my TV and Video... So what? Insurance replaces it for me - and I get an upgrade! :)

Steal my stack and I am stuffed.

Sorry - misunderstood! lol Doh!

I have been looking for something similar, for transporting things. Will let you know if I come up with anything interesting. Let us know if you find anything too! :)
 
Get yourself a stainless steel container (beer keg would be perfect) get a 4 or 6 inch opening welded into it and then bury it :) no-one is ever going to find it.....

if you insured your stack wouldn't the insurance company require info like what it is, how much, where, etc? Exactly the info you don't want to give to anyone.
 
Presumably the security of the where overcomes the granting of information about the what. I can certainly think of scenarios where I could easily give details of what and how much etc if I was comfortable with where and how it was stored.

Australia is a big place how are they going to know where to look?
 
I was thinking more in terms of the back yard.

I would not like to rely on a GPS reference somewhere in the mountains etc.
