Crypto is one of the few things Peter Schiff is right about:
It has no real role, supply is ambiguous and basically unlimited, and it will eventually go to zero. Until people started "investing" in BTC hoping to cash in on the greater fool theory, it was basically only used for black market transacting.

Credit cards?
Yes... people get things they would have needed cash to get. Companies get interest.
PayPal?
Yes... people see cash they can spend. The company gets a percentage.
Crypto?
No, they are filling a niche that doesn't exist and it isn't based on anything that people equate to any real value or widespread utility. Even assuming those problems could all be remedied, BitCoin is also (trying to) compete with monetary systems intimately tied to govts with control of legions of guns, legislation control, and social control. Think about who is likely to win that power struggle.
