the metal could reach a low of $13/oz placing a damper on a possible price recovery by the end of the year due to negative investor sentiment. Unfortunately, there is little consensus, due to the wide range of recent price predictions Bank of America recently warned in a note to clients that the price could tumble to $12/oz in coming weeks, due to headwinds from both industrial and investor demand. GFMS forecasts silver prices to average $15.51/oz for the year and reach $16.80 in 2016 mainly driven by falling mine production.
A mixture of factors such as Chinese growth, a shift from commodities and the US dollar will have an affect on prices. Since 2006, investors have cut their bets on higher silver prices and the possibility of an increase in interest rates has sent ripples through the market. Fed-fund futures show a 66% chance that the Federal Reserve will raise rates at its December meeting, up from a 50% possibility at the end of October. For now, however, investors will have to wait and see.
