can anyone tell me please why silver clad stuff is made , its hard enough untangling it from the real mc coy on e bay, why do the likes of johnsn matthey do clad bars, are they ment as gifts or something, beats me why its made

Not strictly true, Britannia silver is just .958 silver. Please don't be put off by that, it's a long standing British silver purity tradition that should not be avoided.

I agree on the others though, especially German Silver and Clad etc.
