Selling the lot

Hello stackers,

After 30 years of collecting all sorts of coins time has come to sell the lot. My collection is varied, graded/ungraded, proofs, circulated/uncirculated, mint rolls, dec/pre-dec, lots of commemorative $2 stuff, pattern dollars, centenary florins, crowns, PM, RAM stuff etc etc.
I'm seeking advice on best way to liquidate everything and realize best prices. TBH I also have no interest anymore in putting prices on everything and would like the market (via auction) or an expert decide. I don't want the hassle of ebaying and posting piece by piece (probably best returns?) The idea of sending to Imperials or Roxbury's is appealing, I'm just not sure if they would accept everything and may only want the >$500 items leaving me with thousands of other coins behind. I'm located in Perth so logistics may be a problem. Local dealers are limited and not my preferred option. I guess first step is to photo and catalogue everything (which is going to take some time)
Has anyone sold bulk coins previously? Any lessons learnt and help would be great.
 
Start today to get a decent return. Don’t bother categorising.
Grab a few rolls of kooks and put them up for sale. Then grab some lunars etc.
Laziness is not a virtue until done properly.
Before you know it, they’re all gone.
 
Australian Specialty Auctions is based here in Perth and regularly run coin and note auctions. It may be a way for you to offload a large amount of product all at once.
 
Agree with @sammysilver advice.

That said...
What's your own estimated total ballpark value for the lot?
Maybe give @thepurplepenny in Adelaide a shout? IAG can liquidate those, if you have time and don't care for Rox or Downies...
 
Haven’t recently read the Auction Houses terms and conditions.

Can anyone verify if one of the Auction houses still offers zero sellers commission if the collection is valued over a certain threshold? ( buyers still pay commissions ~20% ish).

IAG has 0% commission. Of course the seller in reality also pays the buyer's premium (quiet part said aloud).
 
Aus Specialty Auctions has the 0% for sellers as well just like IAG and Downies, the buyer pays the commission
