Hmm, apart from it being a rather large financial transaction (1.3 million USD), it is rather interesting to know that there is no stamp/purity on the gold bars.

Why don't you try giving APMEX's purchasing department a call to see if they might be interested.

APMEX is locate in Oklahoma City
Downtown Oklahoma City Office
226 Dean A. McGee Avenue
Oklahoma City, OK 73102

Oklahoma City from Boston

25 h (1,688.9 mi)
via I-90 W and I-44

while; MetroWest PreciousMetal
There are 15.47 miles from Wayland and Boston and 19.29 miles by car.

Wayland and Boston are 34 mins far apart (by car).

Good luck getting a small bullion dealer like MWPM to buy 400oz of Au.

Also, APMEX offer $1k more per KG so he'd get an extra $12k+ by not following your suggestion

Good Job Shamish, is your brain finally works....
Sending Bars for PCGS Grading... that if not losing all 3 x 400 oz during the transit ... good suggestion :P

Now thinking about this 'problem' if I ever had such, perhaps I would cut them up into small pieces and smelt them into a small blobs so any trace the metal came of a 400oz bar would be destroyed. Just in case, since I would feel uneasy if I sold a cut chunk and people might ask how big the piece I cut it of is and if is there more where this chunk came from...

Oh that's embarrassing, you thought that was an actual suggestion. Almost as embarrassing
as when you tried to pretend you had a Series 1 gold tiger for sale  and then sold it and a kilo S1 gold Mouse or Rabbit in half an hour . Or had 6 1oz Engelhard that you wouldn't show. Or the 6 "unseen by stackers" bars.

How would you 'lose' that much in transit, Chumpmunk? You'd obviously get Brinks to transport it for you and insure it.

And why would you drive 25h? You'd obvioulsy fly it.

For once try and have a mature discussion without namecalling and resorting to misdirect :)

Hello,
When it comes to selling gold, there are many general pawn shops, collecting shops and banks. However, if you want to sell a variety of gold items such as gold jewelry, dental work, gold nuggets, gold bars and gold coins then you need a specialist shop. Pawn shop are best choice for selling gold bullion.
Thanks

All joking aside, why are you feeling pressured to turn the bars into cash right now? You would be much better off holding onto it for a few years. I would only sell it if you are in financial straights and have no other choice.

Here is the good news. There is plenty of stuff on YouTube about home smelting, you can easily melt the bars down into smaller units and then do what you want with them. Start by searching out "coffee can furnace"
. Granted, you may want something larger than a coffee can but this will give you some ideas.

EDIT: One last parting thought I will come to your front door and pay $25K cash per bar if your interested. Or if you would like me to help with the smelting we could come to an arrangement there as well.
