the police are not interested they say take it to ebay all that the do is take them off
Makes me glad i'm sticking to to PM coins... doubt if the police would yawn at counterfeiting the Australian Dollar

Yes but the only difference that I can pick is that the s work or as I call it chain is slightly offset to the right from top to bottom

In terms of $ and time, how much is it costing you to verify these oz of silver?

eg. if one buys 5 oz of silver at $40 each, and then spends 15 hrs trying to verify their authenticity. And if this person's job pays him $50 per hour, then this guy has spent 15 x $50 = $750, trying to verify if $200 of silver is real.

I did say earlier that i had a weight difference but only slight and I put it down to my scales. So I may get a second test done but my feeling is that they are fake.

You put it down to experience ,it takes me about 1 hour to get an XRF result

its a good hobby and what you learn by doing the work stands you in good stead

You are doing it in the right spirit, so that's cool. You have obviously got this one under control. :)

My scottsdale I bought off eBay.

It feels lighter than my other ounces or I'm just now paranoid

Thank you All for your input, I think by the end of this week I will be a wiser man when it comes to Scottsdale Silver.

So if I weigh this if it's anything but 31.1 g it's fake? do you need a scale that is .01 accurate or will .1 do?

.1 will do ,if it's under 31gm it's a fake ,generally bars are point over rather than under
An old worn bar could be a point under if it shows lots signs of where
Should be 31.12gm
31.1 is close enough
The fakes are never the same size ,a couple of mm thicker/thinner ,wider

also yours in sealed in the standard scottsdale packing.. where as banjo's aren't
