Rarety: Low mintage
Desirability: Lots of controversy/ back story / intrigue. Other coins in the series sold well.
Condition: Uncirculated, as good as you are going to get (maybe a few finger prints)
It ticks all the boxes for being a top priced numismatic item.
If they destroyed the dies to guarantee that no more would be made then I would expect this round to be high priced, maybe not as much as some as the Liberty Dollars and not as high as he is asking but I think that high price is there to get your attention.
He is accepting offers, which will give him a ball park figure of what price to ask for them without the risk of selling it too cheap.
I wouldn't mind it, if the series had gone on longer and I was more invested in getting a complete set then I might be tempted, but not at that price.
If the series continues at a different mint and that round is reissued by a better mint in better condition then I can see it losing nearly all its value but as it will always be the Mulligan Mint Variety, a few people will want to have it to 'complete' the set.
If they continue the series at a different mint but do not reissue this design then I can see it being higly sought after by people who continue to build the set.
Let's face it, the designs on the Koalas are less than inspiring and the kookaburras this year are a bit of a dissapointment and yet if you are collecting the series you really don't have much choice. The design on this might be a bit dull but if the whole series captures the interests of collectors, as it has done so far, then even the less than spectacular ones will be in demand, even if you personally don't like the design or message.

$551 is pushing it a bit!
The most I have paid for 1oz is $109 for a proof Dragon for my set, better quality but they had a much bigger mintage. Not sure I would have offered above $200 unless you knew for sure the mintage was capped at 10.
You can get some pretty decent numismatic items for $4500, not sure this coin would count among them so it is facing some stiff competition.
In a month's time he may be lucky to be offered $551 as a lot of this may have blown over and the coin will not be as topical.
