I notice SterlingCurrency has a group of S1 Gold Proof Sets for sale on eBay - 350698335836
Certainly not something you see everyday!
 
I'm a bit confused by the boxes of their sets. I always thought only the 2000 Dragon set has this box with with the purple lining. In their listing Tiger and Rabbit have the same box.
Also Ox and Mouse have the same box as the more recent Series I sets. I always thought the 199x Gold proof sets have these wooden slipper boxes where you can pull out the board with the coins and flip it over.
 
Why are so many people all of a sudden selling their lunar gold proof sets?
Do they know something I don't know? Is a crash imminent and they are trying to get out?

One seller sold a huge number of all kinds of recent gold proof coins, including lunars, all WAY below cost. Altogether for well above 50000. Is it possible for someone to just cash out all the paypal funds and disappear?
 
Does anyone know the price of a complete set of the S1 gold proof sets? When was the last complete set sold and where? Research is coming up blank...
