imo obviously. But seriously, brilliant design, especially for a 20 quid coin. http://agaunews.com/?p=16730

always going to be hard to get a drunks good side

PS they needed the stubbornness of that drunk at that time.

They normally send me an email with special early offers, like being able to order ten instead of the limit of three and being able to order earlier than the general public.

Now they have dropped the number they made, not sent any special offers, increased the limit to ten for everyone and their advertising literature mentions the first coin selling out but no mention of how well the second coin in the series is doing...

This does not sound like a series that is doing particularly well.

Certainly the Canadian versions have become so numerous that I no longer bother to try and collect them all anymore. Maybe if the Canadians are running out of steam then the writing is on the wall for this type of series, Australia hasn't even put out one coin like this.

I bought 10 each of the first two in the series but I have no idea how many are going to be in the series and if it is an ongoing thing I probably don't want to be dropping 200 every time a new one comes out, particularly if they increase in frequency.

Having said that, it is Winston Churchill, but having said that, there is already a classic Winston coin out which is crown sized (but not silver), and there is already another new Winston coin that doesn't look so good and who knows how many more there might be by the end of the year.

On the website the second one is no longer available, does that mean it has sold out or do you think they might declare the mintage short of the 250k?

I think if it had sold out they would be mentioning that all over the place, best advert for a new coin in a series!

I will probably drop my future orders down to five coins.

Should be able to maintain that number of sets and hopefully the first two will remain higher premium but I don't have much hope for the series if they are already scaling them back.

At last the Royal Mint has released gold and silver proof versions of this Churchill design, but only in 5oz and 1kilo sizes. They look great, but obviously not bargain basement http://agaunews.com/?p=17200

650 available for the 5oz with max mintage of 900?? How does that work?? So right now, it produced 650 and it could upped it to 900 if needed? or the 250 of them are in some sorta sets?

I think it will be similar as with Britannia 5oz. Some were available in special packages, other was sent for grading (bigger dealers and were graded, etc.).

Not sure if there will be any special package for Churchill as well. Otherwise, yes, it could be in special set or smth.

Well that's a bit of a kick in the teeth to the people who bought the 20 for 20 Churchill coin.

Reusing the design but making it more complete, bigger, better quality and more limited.

I quite like the Silver 5 oz but is it really going to be that thick or is that just an artist's impression?

Unless it is high relief there is no need for all that extra metal. If they could have made it half as thick but increased the diameter that would have made a nice wall hanging of Churchill, for those inclined to have that sort of thing on their wall.

Thats the kilo. The 5oz is 65mm in diameter, so about the same thickness as a PM Lunar.

Not sure how its a kick in the teeth to the 20 people. It's extremely limited (barely 1,200 combined for all four variants) and they range from 20x to 2,250x the price. Proof versions of bullion coins are hardly a new thing. Nice to see the original artwork so well presented as the 20 coin didn't doo it justice.
