Ridiculous things said on ebay about silver thread :D

OK so there are some jokers on ebay who will say anything to add a few $$ to their listing.. so i'll kick it off

"1992 1 Kilo Silver Kookaburra Uncirculated Coin"

Uncirculated you say? Are you sure you didn't find that thing in yer change after picking up the milk at woolies?

"SILVER IS ABOUT TO EXPLODE SO GRAB THESE BEFORE IT DOES"

I'll never understand why ppl who think this way want to then go and sell their silver before it does.... EXPLODE :P . Nor why their caps-lock key has.. MAlFUnctionD. Oh and if your silver is about to explode give it some distance and do not try grab it :)

Cmon share what has made ya chuckle :)

P.S. no confessions if it was you :P
 
One thing that gets me is every second listing that has VERY RARE or RARE for obviously not very rare at all coins.

Oh and those weird listings for things , just this arvo I spotted a

"celebrate aust northern tettitory boston coin show"

got it for $90 .... which turned out to be a

2010 Celebrate Aust Northern Territory 1oz Silver Proof

I love E-bay, it is the only real place I can buy silver and have it in my sweaty hands within a week or so in my location and having plenty of time on my hands I can spend hrs just sitting and researching and sniffing for bargains. and they are there to be had if you have the time.

To be honest, this type of description would be very helpful for a newbie. A year ago I didn't know we ever had a round 50c piece which contained 80% silver.
 
Yes, these are silly hardline sales tactics if written IN the listing.

However before attacking the intelligence of these sellers, ebay titles are a list of KEYWORDS pure and simple.

The more keywords regarding an item you can get into the title with it still being readable is clever.

For instance "1966 Australian 50 cent coin - Round and Silver" is very good as some people only search "silver round" or "silver coin".

What is misleading is titles like "Lead bullion bar 1kg - NOT silver" as this will still come up in searches for "silver bullion".
 
Future eBay Ad. post proposed Julia Gillard Super Tax on fuel.

For sale: 20 Litre Jerry Can, is holding what feels to be genuine 17 litres of liquid gold, I bought this fuel for my mower in 2010 & never used it. As we all know the price of fuel has skyrocketed in recent times & is set to " EXPLODE " Get in now & grab a bargain. Serious offers around the $200 mark considered including can it came in.
 
The one I like is: "1 ounce of silver coins" ... but you only get 28.3 grams of silver coins, sometimes they will state that silver spot is $ ??? :D
Only the uninformed sell silver ounce at 28.3 grams.
 
i think the 2.5gram silver is rare
i looked around the internet trying to buy a stack to sell on eBay to profit, but couldn't find any sellers at all

It even states it in the description

After reading this thread i went onto EBay last night to have a look at whats around in terms of silver bullion...
What struck ME as being ridiculous was the prices being listed for silver, eg. 1 kg Perth Mint for $1380 and the like. ummm - like who in their right mind is going to pay $300 above the going rate??
why not buy it directly from any reputable bullion dealer for $300 or $200 less??
And it was this way with nearly every piece of silver bullion advertised. It was ALL way above the going rate at bullion dealers.
So obviously i'm missing something here - please fill me in guys.
I'm sure you guys must know what gives, as none of you commented on the prices being ridiculous, which is what has struck me as obvious...
 
No answers here - though I still watch ebay and occasionally good deals come up that seemingly haven't been spotted by lots of people. Almost never with bars etc though.

I don't understand how they manage to sell at those prices. Is anonymity and convenience really worth the premium? Sure the sellers have fees, but we are talking about buyers paying was above the going rate. Seems really odd.
 
Was in a country tourist store which had a worn sovereign in the gold cabinet.
Asked the price.$1500.(maybe $320 spot)Must have looked a bit shocked because she then said it was 1899.
(these are not rare)

People don't know that gold stores exist ,they have never seen one.Thats why prices are so high.
They also assume prices are good on Ebay.
 
How about - "rare specimen coin"

Sounds good when your selling a standard common bullion coin!
