Removing a gold bar from the certicard.

I intend to remove a 5 gram gold bar from its certicard so it can be used in a jewelery item.

Will removing it from its certificate reduce its resale value or make it hard to sell later? I hope to get at least spot for the bar when sold.

In the past I had used valcambi combibar 1 gram units for this as they dont come in certicards.

Potentially yes it may affect resale especially if you drill or damage it. But moreso if it was a coin.
You will always get spot. Never accept less.
If you want a raw bar I could swap you one for the certicard.

It will reduce it's resale but not significantly. As NapMan said, you'll always get at least spot. Turning it into jewelry might even add value to it. Is it for a customer request?

I am inherently suspicious of certicards, based upon the extraordinary skill and imagination of Chinese manufacturers.

If putting Tungsten inside gold bars to fool the assayers, I would imagine putting something similar inside a plastic sleeve would be an easy task.

Well known company and you wouldnt have paid too high a premium compared to a pamp. Good bang for buck buy as most likely resale value for both will probably be the same.

The low (3%) premium was my incentive in buying the bar without a card.

well there is usually at least 1 Dick in the conversation. And in a room full of Dicks it helps to stand out. .
