Recommendation for online broker to buy on asx

Hey,

New direction for me and looking to buy some shares in an Australian gold mine listed on ASX.

Just looking to buy little and often.

What is the best online broker to use to buy and monitor portfolio?.... concerned about fees, hidden or otherwise.

I'll have a look at your suggestions for sure....but CMC states that I get a free trade per day up to $1k unless I read it wrong.......

You get one free brokerage buy trade per security per day, limited to the first buy order under $1,000 in value for that specific ASX-listed stock or ETF (excludes margin loan trades and sells).


  • This means unlimited potential free buys per day if you spread them across different securities (e.g., buy up to $1,000 in Stock A, Stock B, etc., each for $0 brokerage).
  • All sell orders and additional buys over $1,000 (or second+ buy in the same security) incur standard fees ($11 or 0.10%, whichever is greater).
  • Trades in US, UK, Canadian, and Japanese stocks/ETFs are fully $0 brokerage (unlimited, any amount).
 
Another thing to consider is how long it takes to withdraw funds, Stake and Superhero are very quick (can be same day), Selfwealth can take an eternity. I don't know about CMC.

I've been told by a trusted source (we allegedly all have one lol) who is in the mining industry to have a serious look at Greatland.

Greatland is a new leading Australian gold and copper producer, operating the Telfer gold mine, one of Australia’s largest gold-copper mining complexes. Greatland is concurrently developing the nearby world-class Havieron gold-copper project and exploring across a significant regional portfolio.

My source claims excellent recent test drilling for gold.

Trading on ASX under GGP
AUD $10.78 Price at 06/01/2026 3:42pm.

So about 11 shares for the current price of an Oz of silver....worth a punt!

Superhero is being a bit of a nightmare..keeps crashing. Tried two different smart phones using the app and both crashed...sent details to their IT department so let's hope it gets fixed.

Also created a CMC account yesterday but that's still pending and told it could take days.

No chance of an impulse buy then lol.

(Stock I recommend yesterday up 7.24% overnight ☘️).... pity I haven't been able to buy any yet
 
On a side note just found out CMC have a minimum $500 new stock purchase clause as they are a CHESS broker. Not really suitable for my little and often theory but I pulled the trigger all the same.

You'll find most do when buying from the ASX. On a positive note it usually only applies to the first purchase and subsequent purchases can be less than $500.
