Realising Profits from Gold

To answer the original question, would trade in and out of silver, but physical gold is for the long term and SHTF insurance, so not selling

Need to consider gold as part of diversified assets.
Jared Dillian awesome portfolio: 20% stocks, 20% bonds, 20% gold, 20% real estate, 20% cash.
Holding on to metal is a good idea during uncertain times. Also depends on where you are in life, how close to retirement age are you?

If you are closer to retirement age, you should be leaning towards gold, if you are younger than 35, silver.

How much metal should you hold?

How much can you afford to not lose thru inflation? That should answer the previous question.

Stock imo are over valued and over leveraged.

Would I invest more capital into Aus, no I wouldn't due to skyrocketing business costs, over regulation, and over taxation. I am not giving the government more money to commit fraud, waste and abuse

Real estate, not in Aus, elsewhere based on ROI, lower construction, maintenance and admin costs. Again, overpriced and over leveraged.

Cash, I think its good to hold at least 18 months of living costs in case something pops off, I hold mostly USD, dry powder in case there's a big dip.

Non correlated assets, paintings, statues, books, cars, bikes, boats, tools, equipment, long term food, clean water, problem solving ability.
