RCM Milk Spots because its 99.99% pure silver or?

and as to why people buy them? the ones in good condition are beautiful, i got a milky cougar the other day, couldnt see it under the light in the coin shop, i got home and looked, got kinda pissed, but other than the perth mint, the canadian mint is really the only other decent offer, i guess the us mints got buffalos (the best gold coin on the market), but really not much else..
 
is this the same thing as those ugly spots you get on perth mint bars? or is that something different?
 
Our Five Cents worth; The 'milk spots' were rife of RCM Maples during the 2008-2010 era. Scientific analysis undertaking by the lab which undertakes destruction metal purity testing (the only method of truly testing purity by the way) for us confirmed this as 'organic matter' of some description - likely residue left from the minting process. We have noted since the beginning of 2011 there has been a SIGNIFICANT decrease in the instance of this. Also note NZMint Silver Ferns are also susceptible to this. The more vigilant of those amongst us be aware the blanks (and even some minting of Silver Ferns) has occurred at the RCM - there lies the connection.

Ouch. This hurts. When will people 'get it?' Unless you're getting maples/wildlife/25th anniversary coins, etc...at spot OR below spot...you are crazy. Look at this graded 25th coin. "perfect' when going into storage...now look. eeeks.

Wow the end result was amazing. I can't believe he was able to clean that up. I tried using the cloth in the past only to end up with tiny scratches so I never attempted it again.
 
That sucks to get coins like that I have a roll of 2014's and I took them out today
to have a look they are fine so far not one bad coin.

If they are maples...or anything Canadian bullion...it is not a matter of if, but when. I'd bet some dough on that...if after 5 years you have no spots, I'll pay you a silver coin. :D
 
haha no never played pro foosball......just a name.....

I was checking out some of my Canadian Bullion today and 90% of it has spots........wont be putting another dime into Canadian silver billion that's for sure....

Unfortunately there is milk spotting on the 2014's, looking at one right now. They can spot at any time so wouldn't think you got lucky just yet. Took my 2012 tubes 8-10 months to spot

If no spots after 5 years they are forged maples.
 
I can say that the top maple in my first open tube developed visible spotting in only a couple of days. Not the cause, but the more fine the surface, the more susceptible it is. Eagles have a mat finish and never spot. the slowly abrasive surface provides a barrier to external contaminants/oxidization. The typical capsule does not make an air seal. So capsules will only slow the process I presume. I will be experimenting with silica bags in open tubes to see if they make any difference.

Not until they also release an unlimited mintage legal tender coin. I'd prefer to not buy excessive premium silver. I'm investing in silver, not numismatics. I still buy PM stuff, but not in volume. I think that's silly tbh.

I have seen spotted kooks, koala, stock horse, sharks... PM bullion are not immuned to spots.

I think I may have seen one with A spot. Not white snow plastered on the coin? Does anyone have a lunar or kook that is covered with snow stains, care to share pictures...heck even riddled with spots. I'd like to see one (serious inquiry). Thanks.

I have put my Canadian bullion straight into air-tite capsules....still spots....I have tried using silica bags in each capsule.....still spots.....

Like said before its not a matter of if it will spot but when....

I think I would rather buy those Pegasus rounds than SML. No spots, cool looking round, and cheaper premium.

I don't mind ASE's but the premium is a little high over here in Canada.

PM bullion is the best but the premium is really high
 
In Singapore bullion dealers buyback Maples, Eagles, Britannias, Phils at pretty much spot or slight premium over spot. Spotted or perfect coins they all command the same price as long as the coins are in good condition (no excessive damages).

So most of the time local stackers just buy, hold and sell. But sometimes when dealing with new stackers/juniors they will hesitant to buy defective coins e.g. spotted coins.
