I see an Engelhard in there!

Also a Westpac gold bar from when they used to have gold account passbooks. Have seen a 10oz one of these before.

I've come across some of these Engelhard Australia 1/10 fractional rounds 1980's I've been told ,never seen them before :D

Was it a Westpac or the Wales? ("You can bank on the Wales")
Showing the age now.

Was circa 1992 - so whatever they traded as in NSW then.

How much for that one?:)
Not putting this bar on the market until spot strikes $2012 :)
If there are any Stackers here who can translate the Chinese characters on the reverse; it would be much appreciated.
Cheers

Its been almost ten months since that post, but I'll translate. This is for the horizontal bar on p2 of this thread.

Main horizontal inscription: "Good fortune of dragon and phoenix"

30g "thousand exact" gold (equivalent to 99.9%)

Dragon design above it appears to be jeweler's logo.

Vertical writing on far left: Established 1846

Vertical writing on far right: 'Old Phoenix (something) Silver House'

Does anyone have more information on the Perth Mint 1oz in the bottom right of the pics (post #109).

How old is this design?, are these ones collectable??

How many different cast PM 1oz are there??

Plenty of them around , & no premium on them .

Alright... How on earth did I miss this thread!!!!

Wish I could get some pics of my Hereaus', when they're in a safe on the other side of the planet... its a bit tricky!!!

Noticed anyone hasn't put up any of these yet... in my opinion one of the best value and readily available old-school cast bars today:

Been saving like a mofo for one of their 50grammers.

Saw a really nice cast Mitsubishi in a Brisbane coin shop a good 12 months ago - apparently due to the rarity of it they wanted spot + 11%.

You can only imagine my response... ;)

Wow, these particularly look interesting. I like the casing/packaging as well. PM me if you know where to get any of these today.

I loved the photos.

The square-shaped ones are especially rare. I've seen some of the most interesting ones ever.

It's funny how some of those photographed/scanned 10-20 g bars look as if they were huge, several kilogram-weighing bars. :)

Looks like both of these bars will probably be headed off to Germany very soon so I better post a few pics as it is very unlikely I will be able to source any more in the future. :(
Probably the rarest cast bars I have come across.
Lihir 25grams Gold Cast Bars.
Casted from one of the earliest pours after the mine started producing gold.
I could be wrong but I think most of these bars were gifted to directors of the company and major shareholders. I don't think the general public was able to buy them.
